Description
A starter set for Sunago, the Japanese traditional art technique of sprinkling metal leaf powder. This kit includes all essential tools for Sunago in one box, along with a starter supply of metal leaf and a Sunago-zutsu (bamboo tube.)
Note: The mesh size of Sunago-zutsu is fixed and cannot be selected.
[How to Use]
1. Prepare: Use the bamboo tweezers to place the metal leaf flakes into the Sunago-zutsu.
2. Apply Glue: Apply animal glue to the paper using a flat brush.
3. Sprinkle: While the glue is wet, insert the pounding brush into the Sunago-zutsu and gently rub it against the bottom mesh to sprinkle the metal leaf powder.
4. Set: Place a piece of scrap paper over the surface and press lightly to fix the metal leaf powder on the surface.
Sunago is widely used to decorate sutra scrolls, ryoshi (collaged calligraphy paper) , and shikishi (art boards.) In Japanese painting, it is also used as an alternative to pigments to depict misty landscapes.
